Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa has underscored the need to be aware about good means of information technology and how to control cyberspace ideologically.
The minister’s remarks came at the 34th international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The conference, themed “cyberspace and modern means of religious discourse”, aims to focus on issues related to the rational use of cyberspace and artificial intelligence and the unconventional ways of developing religious discourse, among others.
The minister extended thanks to President Sisi over his sponsorship of the conference, noting that such a step greatly supports moderate thoughts internationally.
The minister also underlined the need to use social media networks wisely and focus on cyberspace merely to back religious tolerance and establish bases for peaceful co-existence and spread peace worldwide.
