Amr Adib renews calls for Journalist Wael al-Dahdouh to leave Gaza

Egyptian media host Amr Adib renewed his calls for Palestinian journalist Wael al-Dahdouh to leave the Gaza Strip, after the death of his eldest son, Hamza, his wife, and more members of his family including the deaths of his cousins on Tuesday.

Adib posted on his account on the “X” platform, saying: “And of course we will find who chants: He must stay, he must endure, he must sacrifice, and for all of them, their only sacrifice is the price of the (internet) package from which they post their chants. They remind me of the audience in Rome who used to enjoy the battle between gladiators and beasts.”

He also called Dahdouh a “symbol of all Palestinian suffering.”

Adib’s comments comes in response to criticism he drew after asking the Palestinian journalist about the possibility of leaving the Gaza Strip – seen as an indirect invitation from Adib to Dahdouh to leave the Strip.

Will Dahdouh leave Gaza?

Adib asked Dahdouh during an interview with “al-Hekaya” TV show broadcast on Monday on MBC Masr, about his departure from Gaza.

Dahdouh responded, saying: “I don’t know what to say. It relates to many things, and it is difficult for me to make such a decision, but at one point, if necessary, it will not be out of the question.”

He said that their work has cost “Blood, sweet, and also tears,, and this is something that is difficult to change or undo, but in a moment, if the matter requires otherwise, we are ready. May God grant us goodness wherever it may be.”
