Al-Masry Al-Youm board of directors has appointed Ali al-Sayyed as a new editor in chief, replacing caretaker chief editor Mohamed Salmawy.
Sayyed said he was honored by the choice and thanked his predecessors. Sayyed vowed to enhance the news room’s content, vowing to mark a breakthrough in the print edition in terms of content and form so as to be integrated with the website. He also promised to develop the digital media product.
Sayyed was a former deputy chief editor of state-run newspaper Al-Ahram, and contributes columns to several Egyptian and Arab newspapers such as Al-Masry Al-Youm, Egyptian newspaper Al-Watan and London-based Al-Hayat.
