Alexandria hotel occupancy reaches 74% in May

The occupancy rate of 5-star hotels in Alexandria reached 74 percent in May, while 4-star hotels recorded 79 percent. 
 
The rate dropped in June to 63 percent for 5-star hotels, and to 64 percent for 4-star ones, due to Ramadan. 
 
Sharm El-Sheikh came second in the ranking, with a 59.4 percent occupancy rate for 5-star hotels in May and 63.4 percent for 4-star hotels, rising to 59.5 percent for 5-star hotels in June and 66 percent for 4-star hotels.
 
Occupancy in Luxor and Aswan hotels fell to their lowest levels since 2010, with 19 percent for 5-star hotels in Luxor in May, 11.3 percent for 4-star hotels, and 12.9 percent for 5-star hotels in Aswan and 10.5 percent for 4-star hotels.
 
A Sharm El-Sheikh hotel source said that safety measures have improved during the last six months, pointing out that security is crucial for attracting tourism, and calling on the media reassure tourists through specialized bulletins issued in Europe the United States.
