Former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly will "soon be investigated" once all necessary legal procedures are completed, according to judicial sources.
The same sources said the ex-minister had been charged with profiteering, fraud, the seizure of state-owned land, money laundering and ordering peaceful demonstrators to be fired upon during Egypt's recent 18-day uprising.
Al-Adly has also been accused of planning the bombing of Alexandria's Two Saints' Church in Alexandria, which killed more than 20 Coptic Christians last New Years Eve.
According to sources, investigations into the shooting of demonstrators, money laundering and the church blast have already begun. They note that military prosecutors have already taken testimony from several of al-Adly’s former assistants in this regard.
Prosecutors have also listened to several recorded conversations between the former minister and ministry officials in hopes of finding incriminating evidence with which to prosecute him, the sources added.
