New diesel and naphtha contract worth $300 mn

Egypt’s Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company is planning to rely on technology from UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, to expand its high-octane gasoline production.

“Egypt’s Alexandria National Refining & Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC) will use UOP technology and equipment as part of a US$300 million, multi-year project to expand an existing, state-of-the-art gasoline production facility to meet growing domestic demand for high-octane gasoline,” UOP said in a statement.

It added that the ANRPC will use its continuous catalytic reforming technology for the production of high-octane, low-sulfur gasoline, installing a second CCR unit at the Alexandria plant. It explained that ANRPC’s first installation of a UOP unit was in 2001.

“This expansion is critical as it will significantly reduce the amount of high-octane gasoline imported by Egypt,” the company quoted ANRPC Chairman, Ahmed Abul Rooh, as saying. “We selected a second continuous catalytic reforming unit from Honeywell UOP, which will be delivered in modular form, to help ensure reliable operations and the shortest possible project schedule.”
