Emma Watson will play opposite Tom Hanks as the female lead in the adaptation of Dave Eggers' book "The Circle."
Watson takes over from Alicia Vikander, who was originally tapped to play the lead but had to drop out due to scheduling reasons for a new Jason Bourne film and "Assassin's Creed," reports Deadline.
In the film, Watson plays the role of a young hire at an Internet monopoly company called "The Circle" which links users' personal information – email, social media, banking – to create a single online identity.
Watson's next big release will be Disney's live-action version of "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017.
