Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafy announced that 20 new subsidized goods would be on the market starting the first of August, making the total number of subsidized goods 40 items.
Around 25,000 grocers would be selling the new items nationwide, Hanafy told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
The value of the subsidized goods traded on market are estimated at LE2.5 billion in two months, after the the new subsidized bread system was generalized, Hanafy added.
The new goods include dairy, beans, oregano, meat, and other products, said the minister.
The ministry was considering with private companies providing refrigerators for ministry-affiliated grocers to display the goods in return for the grocer's cooperation with the company. The grocer will be putting adds for the company in his shop and will sell the company's products, Hanafy mentioned.
Hanafy denied that some subsidized goods were canceled, saying it was rumors that have malicious goals.
About 69 million citizens benefit from subsidized goods, according to Hanafy.
