NCHR forms fact-finding committee to investigate the murder of seven Copts in Libya

The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) has condemned the murder of seven Egyptian Christians in Libya who were handcuffed and shot in the head in an attack on their place of residence, while the eighth resident managed to escape.

Council member George Isaac said the committee is meeting with the relatives of the victims in Sohag and communicating with the concerned authorities.

Council president Mohamed Fayek called the crime a “systematic terrorist act” and requested the Libyan authorities to arrest the terrorists and make sure such incidents do not take place again.

Adel Shoukry, a 35-year-old witness, said the victims were killed on Monday by masked gunmen who came late at night, pretending they were from a health committee checking if the residents had the Hepatitis C virus.

He added that the victims were first kidnapped and then killed 60km away on the Benghazi road.
