A car owned by a central security policeman was set on fire in Beni Suef early on Sunday, while it was parked in front of the home of the policeman's father.
Investigations revealed that the unidentified assailants had poured gasoline on the car owned by Bassem Fawzy Abdel Azeem in al-Ramad district.
Civil protection forces rushed to the scene and put out the fire when residents found the car on fire.
Beni Suef prosecution ordered an investigation into the incident and the arrest of the criminals.
The policeman whose car was set on fire is in charge of dispersing protests in the governorate. The Muslim Brotherhood said on Facebook that he had arrested and detained a student called Fama Ezzat a month ago.
