Education Minister Mahmoud Abul Nasr said that 174 schools will be inspected as they are suspected to be owned by the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been declared by the government to be a terrorist organization.
In case it turns out that 5 percent of the shares of a school is owned by members of the MB, the school will be put under the Ministry of Education, financially and administratively, the minister said in a press statement on Sunday.
“The first step is that the Social Solidarity Ministry has placed the associations owning these schools under its watch, because these associations are where their capital is,” the minister explained.
The second step will be the Education Ministry supervising these schools, and finance them from the money of these associations which are now under the Social Solidarity Ministry, he added.
Abul Nasr noted that there is a committee headed by Judge Adel Abdel Hamid, the Justice Minister, to inspect those schools so as not to misjudge them.
The Cabinet has announced on Wednesday of last week that the Muslim Brotherhood will be considered a terrorist organization. Deputy Prime Minister Hossam Eissa said whoever financed, co-organizes or stays a member of the group would also face charges of terrorism.
