Sinai-based jihadi group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, has claimed responsibility on Wednesday for the explosion that rocked the Daqahliya Security Directorate in Mansoura and led to the death of 16 people and the injuring of 132 others.
Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis identified Abu Mariam as the perpetrator of the attack in its statement.
The statement called on police and military officers to “quit their service in the militias of [Defense Minister Abdel Fattah] al-Sisi and [Interior Minister] Mohamed Ibrahim, and learn from the fate of their colleagues [who were killed in the incident].”
The blast that shook the Security Directorate early Tuesday also caused dozens of cars to crash as well as the collapse of large buildings in the Directorate and the National Theatre and other buildings nearby.
