The wife of ousted President Mohamed Morsy, Naglaa Mahmoud, said her husband “will definitely return [to power],” adding that she has not seen him or talked to him since he was deposed in early July.
In a statement she delivered before Eid prayers on Thursday, Mahmoud greeted Egyptians and said, “I am used to hearing good news from this stage, but today I saw everything myself, thank God. I want to deliver some good news to you and leave you to celebrate Eid. God has said, ‘Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.’”
“I believe that the Egyptian people have proven that Egypt will be an Islamic state, God willing. It is Islamic, Islamic,” she added.
She added that no matter what conspiracies are organized against them, God is more cunning because He is stronger.
“God helps his allies and soldiers win, and we believe that we are the party of God. I am conveying the president’s greetings to you. I have not seen him or heard him but I know very well what he has in his heart.”
