Attiya Hammad, head of the bakeries division within Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said the government intends to build 25 new silos with Emirati funding, to take up to three million tons of wheat, which will save about LE3 billion of the total amount of subsidies allocated for bread, out of about a total of LE 21 billion this year .
Hammad told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Tuesday that developing the storage system will lead to the stability of the market.
According to Hammad, Supply Minister Mohamed Abu Shady said during a meeting with the General Division for bakeries last week, that the subsidized loaf of bread will not see a rise in price over 5 piasters, on condition of commitment to quality.
