1.8% increase in Suez Canal revenues in first quarter of 2015

The Suez Canal revenues have increased by 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2015, to reach US$1.24 billion, according the Suez Canal Authority statistics.
 
Last year, the canal made a total of $5.41 billion in revenues.
 
The revenues are one of the most important sources of hard currency for Egypt, along with tourism and remittances from Egyptians abroad.
