PM meets to discuss ramifications of price hikes

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb met on Monday with the ministers of interior and local development, as well as a number of governors, and discussed the situation in the markets after the government decided to raise fuel prices.

Minister of International Cooperation Nagla al-Ahwani said the government will thwart systematic attempts by terrorist groups to provoke anger among citizens at the new price policies. “Economic reform will benefit the poor,” she stressed.

She said the power stations that were agreed upon during her visit to Jeddah will be built with soft loans over 20 years, with a grace period of five years.

She also said there are 1,000 new buses to improve public transport.
