Unstable weather is predicted this week starting Tuesday, to reach its maximum on Thursday and Friday, according to Ahmed Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
In a statement, Abdel Aal said low- and medium-level clouds will be seen on most of the country, to be accompanied by heavy rains and thunder on northern coasts along the Mediterranean, as well as the Delta, Cairo and Sinai.
Slight rains are expected to shower the governorates of Upper Egypt.
Decreasing temperatures will be felt, accentuated by the wind which will add to the feeling of cooler weather and disturb maritime navigation in both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
The EMA also warned against dense fog in the morning on most roads on Monday and Tuesday.
Abdel Aal said the warning was made to guarantee readiness and precautionary measures in areas expected to be affected by bad weather. He urged all governorates to take the necessary measures to limit the negative impacts of the heavy rains.
The statement will be updated by the authority on a daily basis through weather bulletins broadcast via media channels.
EMA can be reached at 02-24646721 throughout the day.
