Zamalek player says stadium incidents another massacre

Mohamed Abdel Shafy, left-back player of the Saudi Professional League on loan from Zamalek Club, has addressed a strongly-worded message to Zamalek Club players over resuming the match with ENPPI despite the killing of 22 club fans after clashes with security.

On his Facebook page, Abdel Shafy said, “What I’m going to say could make many people angry. But it’s right. The incidents that occurred today before the Zamalek-ENPPI match could be at least described as another massacre at Air Defense Stadium.”

“All the blame is to be on the Zamalek Club players. How could they approve playing the match on the dead bodies of their fans?” he added.

“If justice for the 74 victims [who died in Port Said in February 2012] had been served, this would not have happened again. Seventy-four Ahly Club fans, 53 Masry Club fans, 22 Zamalek Club fans and Amr Hussein [White Knights member]. It is all the same killer who is thriving in the absence of justice,” he added.
