President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, passed away, Monday, after a long struggle with illness.
The news of Qaradawi’s death was published on his official Twitter account, Monday, stating: “He Went to God’s mercy. At the essence, Imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi, gave his life interpreting the provisions of Islam, and defending his nation.”
In 2015, the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced 99 defendants, including Qaradawi, to death by hanging over charges of breaking into prisons during the January 25 revolution in 2011.
