Zahi Hawass, the renowned Egyptian archaeologist, denied the news that spread about the renting of the Giza Pyramids by the famous YouTuber MrBeast, also known as James Steven, for 100 hours to film an episode on his channel.
Hawass said, during a phone call on the ‘Happening in Egypt’ program on MBC Egypt channel, on Thursday evening, that he met MrBeast two days ago and asked him to send a message to the world that the Egyptians were the builders of the pyramids.
He added that MrBeast thanked the government and the Supreme Council of Antiquities for allowing him to film a program about Egyptian antiquities in the Pyramids area.
Hawass indicated that the Supreme Council of Antiquities received LE 20 million for the American YouTuber filming the Pyramids episode.
MrBeast, according to the archaeologist, denied renting the pyramids, insisting he merely had a filming permit.
Hawass continued that, “The man (MrBeast) never said the word rent at all. No one in the world can rent a pyramid…no one in the world can rent a pyramid.’
