Yemen’s Al-Alimi thanks Egypt for invitation to GEM opening

CAIRO, Oct 31 (MENA) – Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi on Friday expressed appreciation to Egypt for inviting him to attend the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), scheduled for Saturday.

In remarks carried by Yemen’s state-run Saba news agency, Al-Alimi said the landmark global event underscores Egypt’s cultural and civilizational leadership through the ages.

He praised Egypt’s unprecedented urban and development progress under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, reflected in major infrastructure projects, new cities and cultural initiatives. The GEM, he said, stands as one of the most prominent symbols of that progress.

Al-Alimi also commended Egypt’s continued support for the Yemeni people and their efforts to restore state institutions, peace and stability.

He voiced gratitude for Egypt’s care for Yemeni nationals residing in the country, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare and accommodation.

Al-Alimi arrived in Cairo earlier on Friday at the invitation of President Sisi to attend the opening of GEM, one of the world’s largest museums dedicated to a single civilization.
