Nineteen pro-Houthi Yemeni political parties convened in Sanaa early Tuesday for a press conference in which they jointly voiced opposition to Saudi-led air strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
In a statement by the parties, reported by Masaa Press website, the parties voiced their opposition to what they described as “the Saudi, zionist-American aggression on the lands and the people of Yemen”, as they put it. The deemed the Saudi strikes, launched in support for internationally-recognized president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi “a violation of national sovereignty and a destruction of infrastructure”.
The statement called for “strictly confronting that aggression by all means”, accusing the Saudi-led coalition forces of providing finances to Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen and “providing them with an air cover in a desperate attempt to subdue many southern regions”.
The statement warned any political party against siding with the Saudi military campaign.
Parties signing the statement included Al-Karama (Dignity),Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party and al-Ummah (Nation) Party.
