The World Tourism Forum Lucerne 2019 has selected Egypt as a model for overcoming tourism crises, which comes as appreciation of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its tourism sector, in addition to the government’s prioritization of better security.
During the forum, Egypt’s Tourism Minister Rania al-Mashat reviewed Egypt’s experience in overcoming crises experienced in the past years, its steadfastness in the face of shocks and success in turning them into opportunities to be utilized.
Mashat explained that the tourism sector in Egypt was able to overcome these issues through governmental support to the private sector, in addition to increased communication and cooperation between the government and private sectors.
She said that these efforts by the government have not only overcome the crisis but also began the processes of construction, development and continuation, in addition to efforts to enhance security and sustainability in investment within the security sector.
Mashat pointed to Egypt’s continued contact with the global community to convey an accurate picture of the country’s situation and it’s security.
She said that Egypt has achieved a high rating according to global security indicators and has become the safest country in Africa, with higher safety ratings than the US or UK according to the annual Gallup Global Law and Order poll.
The World Tourism Forum Lucerne 2019 was held during May 2-3, in Lucerne, Switzerland. More than 500 ministers, tourism industrialists, investors, decision makers, policy makers, academics and entrepreneurs participated in the forum.
