A woman in her thirties suffered from shock and had a nervous breakdown after she survived a boat accident on the Nile where dozens drowned last Wednesday.
The woman was transported to Tahrir General Hospital after being rescued and remained under observation for four days before being transferred to the Abbassiya Hospital for Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases, said Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
The health minister sent a medical team to provide psychological support to the families of the injured and the dead and ease their agony, he added.
The bodies of the victims were transferred to the Nasser Institute and Tahrir General Hospital where they will be released to their families, said Abdel Ghaffar.
Two of the injured recovered nicely, while a child was transferred to the Abbassiya Psychiatric Hospital following a nervous breakdown, he pointed out.
The death toll from the boat collision on Egypt's Nile river Wednesday has risen to 40, Chief of Giza Fire Civil Protection Directorate Major General Magdy Shalakany said on Saturday.
The accident occurred on the Nile near Giza, across the river from Cairo, when a barge collided with and overturned a small recreational boat carrying dozens of passengers on Wednesday evening.
