The general prosecutor in the Red Sea governorate has asked police to arrest a woman accused of killing her infant and leaving the baby in the toilet of a hospital in al-Qusayr.
The unidentified defendant is accused of strangling her newborn daugher shortly after giving birth and leaving the infant's body in a hospital toilet before escaping.
Hospital staff found the infant and filed a claim regarding the incident. According to prosectors, who inspected the scene of the incident and the infant's body, traces on her neck showed that she had been strangled.
The infant was placed in the morgue and the prosecution has asked for a forensic report of the body.
