WikiLeaks has disclosed a document from the Saudi Foreign Ministry saying that Mohamed Morsi, the head of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, had requested Saudi Arabia receive him as a political leader and head of an important party after the party was formed in 2011. The request came at a time leading up to his trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah with his family. He had asked that meetings be arranged for him to speak with Saudi officials.
According to the document, former Saudi Shura Council member Khalil bin Abdullah suggested he arrange meetings with Morsi so as to build good relations with a moderate Islamic figure who may have some influence.
