The Shahid platform announced that it is releasing the first episode of the ‘Omar Effendi’ series on August 18.
The platform had released promotional posters for the show earlier in August, starring Ahmed Hatem.
The series was initially called “al-Serdab” (The Crypt), before the name was changed.
Set in the forties, this romantic comedy follows Ahmed Hatem’s character who falls in love with a belly dancer named Zizi, played by Aya Samah, while Rania Youssef plays the role of Dalal, the owner of a pension.
Omar Effendi consists of 10 episodes and also stars Mostafa Abu-Sarea, Mohamed Radwan, Mimi Gamal, and Mahmoud Hafez.
The series is written by Mostafa Hamdi and directed by Abdel-Rahman Abu-Ghazala.
