The head of National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) Gad al-Qady commented on recent scientific findings studying the stoppage of the Earth’s inner core and it beginning to rotate in the opposite direction.
The news has been sensationalized as a sign of the end times.
During a Saturday phone-in with TV host Amr Adib on his show “al-Hekaya” (The Story), on MBC Masr, Qady explained that while this scientific study opens up many research directions, its results are still uncertain.
“The matter differs from what is going on through social media, that it has something to do with the Day of Resurrection, unless Allah commands, and only Allah knows the unseen, and the matter has nothing to do with the aforementioned study.”
Qady explained that the study was published by Chinese researchers, continuing: “Until now, it has not been established with conclusive evidence whether the Earth’s core rotates clockwise or counterclockwise? Was it has been spinning in one direction or the other way around?
