Temperatures to gradually decrease across Egypt starting Thursday: EMA

The heat wave that has gripped Egypt for the past few days is set to slowly subside starting Thursday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority announced.

 

Thursday

Meteorologists predict hot weather in Cairo, the Delta Governorates, and the northeast coast, while moderate weather is expected for the northwest coast.

Hot weather is expected in South Sinai and Upper Egypt. 

Light, scattered showers accompanied by wind are expected for the northwestern coast. The wind will continue to South Sinai, possibly disrupting maritime navigation.

Heavier winds and thunderstorms bringing moderate showers will move through southern Upper Egypt.

Maximum temperatures for the following cities are: 29C along the northwest coast, 32C in Cairo and the Delta Governorates, and 30C along the northeast coast and in central Sinai. South Sinai, the Red Sea mountains and the northern half of Upper Egypt will reach 37C, and southern Upper Egypt should expect temperatures up to 42C.

Humidity levels are expected to range from 25 to 70 percent in Cairo, 28 to 75 percent in the Delta Governorates, 45 to 80 percent in the northwest coast, 45 to 85 percent in the northeast coast and central Sinai, 30 to 70 percent in South Sinai and the Red Sea mountains, 22 to 60 percent in northern Upper Egypt, and 14 to 30 percent in southern Upper Egypt. 

 

Friday

Hot weather will continue in Cairo and the Delta Governorates, while the north coast should expect moderate weather. More hot weather is predicted for South Sinai and Upper Egypt. 

Thursday’s winds will continue in South Sinai, possibly disrupting maritime navigation. The wind in southern Upper Egypt will continue to lift sand and dust.

Maximum temperatures for the following cities are: 29C along the northern coasts and central Sinai, 31C in Cairo and the Delta Governorates, 35C in South Sinai, the Red Sea mountain ranges and northern Upper Egypt, and 41C in southern Upper Egypt.

The minimum and maximum humidity levels on Friday will be 25 to 70 percent in Cairo, 28 to 75 percent in the Delta Governorates, 45 to 85 percent in the north coast and central Sinai, 30 to 70 percent in South Sinai and the Red Sea mountains, 22 to 60 percent in northern Upper Egypt, and 14 to 30 percent in southern Upper Egypt.
