Water pipe explodes in New Cairo, repairing it will take up to 12 hours: Water Company

The Greater Cairo Water Company (GCWC) said that the main water pipe feeding New Cairo city exploded suddenly in the early hours of Saturday.

The breakdown of the pipe led to water cuts in districts of Third Settlement and Fifth Settlement. GCWC apologized for the incident.

A source in the company told al-Masry al-Youm that vacuum trucks have been pushed to suck the water from the streets, pointing out that the process of fixing and repairing the pipe will take up to 12 hours.

The source added that GCWC provided drinking water to meet the needs of citizens who can contact the hotline number 125 to get it in their areas.

The General Administration of Traffic conducted traffic detours on the Ring Road (New Cairo), as a result of the water pipe explosion in front of the main door of the Police Academy, which led to the leakage of water to the NB tunnel.
