Washington withdraws the oversight of Gaza aid from Israel

Washington has assigned responsibility for overseeing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center instead of Israel, according to The Washington Post.

The newspaper reported that this represents a fundamental shift in managing the reconstruction of Gaza, within the peace plan launched by US President Donald Trump.

The report cited informed sources as saying that this step relegates Israel to a secondary role in determining the type and amount of aid.

Anemia cases and miscarriages rise across Gaza

The head of the statistics department at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Zaher Wahidi, said that the percentage of women suffering from anemia reached approximately 63 percent amongst those examined.

The number of premature births has also risen dramatically, exceeding 2,800, and that more than 4,000 miscarriages have been recorded, in addition to approximately 1,000 stillbirths.

Wahidi further explained, “The Ministry of Health operates according to a clear methodology, relying on registering only those martyrs and wounded individuals who arrive at hospitals.”

“Based on this, the Ministry announces the names of the martyrs and documents their data for those who reach its health facilities. However, there are thousands whose bodies have not yet reached the hospitals.”

Abdelatty also discussed with Kallas further developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Minister briefed the European official on the efforts made by Egypt to ensure the consolidation of the Sharm el-Sheikh peace agreement, stressing the urgency of its full implementation to ensure the sustainability of the truce.
