Voters abroad prepare for second round of elections

Almost 80,000 out of 102,524 Egyptian expatriates have received their balloting papers online, said Mohamed Mansour,  who runs the website of the High Elections Commission (HEC).

Mansour said that 33,294 of the voters are registered in Saudi Arabia, representing 42 percent of expatriate Egyptians who have voted. In Kuwait, 21,783 voters are recorded (27.5 percent), 7,068 voters in the Emirates (8.9 percent), 5,510 in Qatar (6.9 percent), 2,153 in the United States (2.7 percent), 1,430 in Oman (1.8 percent), 1,069 in Canada (1.3 percent) and 830 in Bahrain (1 percent).

Also, 791 voters are registered in Italy, 707 in Britain, 497 in France, 422 in Australia, 417 in Germany, 405 in Jordan, 250 in Algeria and 2,715 in the remaining countries.

Sameh Shoukry, Egyptian ambassador to the United States, said the embassy had decided to extend its working hours on Tuesday until midnight.

Around 500 Egyptians in US have cast their ballots since Saturday, Shokri added. Three-hundred-and-fifty voters sent their balloting papers by mail, while 150 handed in their papers at the embassy.
