Vodafone Egypt offers free international calls to six Arab nations amid regional unrest

Vodafone Egypt on Sunday announced that it will provide free international calling minutes to several Arab nations.

The initiative aims to support customers attempting to contact family and friends across the Middle East as regional tensions continue to escalate.

Three-day waiver

The service provider confirmed that subscribers will have access to free international minutes for three days. The offer covers calls to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

“Our priority is to ensure our customers can stay connected and check on the safety of their loved ones during these challenging regional events,” the company stated in an official release.

Regulatory mandate

The move follows a broader directive from Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

The regulator instructed all mobile operators within the Egyptian market to provide a baseline of five free international minutes per subscriber for calls to the same six nations.

The NTRA emphasized that these measures are part of an emergency regulatory framework designed to facilitate communication during “critical circumstances” in the region.

The agency added that it remains in constant coordination with telecom providers to monitor regional developments and implement further support measures as needed.
