The rate of violence and terrorist attacks dropped in the period between August 21-27, an alliance of NGOs detecting violence rates ahead of the parliamentary elections has said.
The mentioned period saw 47 attempts to “commit terrorist crimes”, according to a report by the parliamentary elections observatory affiliated with the International-Local Joint Mission to Observe the Parliamentary Elections – Egypt 2015. It said the number represents a 36 percent decline compared to the preceding week.
Attacks against army and police personnel remained high, however, accounting for 37 out of the 47 attacks, a total of 72 percent of the overall attacks.
Violent attacks were concentrated in eight provinces, with North Sinai still the stage for the highest rate of violence at 29 incidents. The number equals 47 percent of the total attacks witnessed by the eight governorates.
