Egypt’s promotional video campaign titled “People To People” was granted the Middle East’s Best Promotional Film Award by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on Thursday, September 12, an official statement by the tourism minister read.
The award was presented to Egypt’s Tourism Minister Rania Al-Mashat during the general meeting of the UNWTO’s 23rd edition that was set to run from September 9 until September 13, the statement added.
Mashat launched in August an international promotional campaign in collaboration with the leading social media travel hub “Beautiful Destinations”, which has more than 20 million followers across the world, according to an official statement by the Tourism Ministry.
The video shines a light on Egypt’s “hidden gems”, leading viewers to various new touristic experiences. It also demonstrates the diversity of Egyptians themselves, shown by the video’s reliance on content ideologies and digital tools that highlight the value of community engagement, according to the statement.
Paying tribute to the Egyptian passion for progress and productivity, the Tourism Minister previously expressed her beliefs in the Egypt people’s potential to secure a prosperous future for the tourism sector.
Mashat stated that rather than focusing solely on places, the video also presents the people of Egypt as “hidden gems”, in an effort to foster human connection. The footage showcases aspects of Egyptian culture, such as Egyptian food, a prior statement read.
“The campaign video highlights the fact that beyond our known destinations, landmarks, and year-round sunshine, Egypt moves, astonishes and awakens the senses of visitors, not only through its places but through its people as well, inviting the people of the world to connect with us and experience Egypt’s dynamic and vibrant culture,” Mashat said.
The promotional video is the third part of a bigger campaign for the Promotion & Marketing branch of the Egypt — Tourism Reform Program (E—TRP), which kicked off in November 2018.
