Video: In heartfelt farewell, Mohamed Elneny announces his departure from Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny announced his official departure from the team at the end of the current season.

Elneny published a video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, on Friday, in which he said: “Gooners, I’m here today to send you a message, to say goodbye and thank you for everything you’ve done for me.. The love, the support and the kindness.”

“I wanted to say how much I love you and how much you mean to me. I will never forget the way you supported me.

“I’m really going to miss you so much, and you’ll be in my heart forever.. I’m going to see you on Sunday at the Emirates to say goodbye face to face, see you then,” he added.

The 31-year-old player joined Arsenal from Basel, Switzerland, in January 2016.

Elneny’s years with Arsenal included a season-long loan to Turkish club Besiktas in the 2019-2020 season.

He played 161 matches with Arsenal, during which he scored six goals and assisted 10 others.

In his time with Arsenal, the Egyptian national team player won the FA Cup once and the Charity Shield twice.

Arsenal will face its rival Everton on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium in the 38th round of the English Premier League.
