Egyptian army spokesperson Colonel Gharib Abdel-Hafez announced Saturday that the ‘Bright Star-2023’ exercise will be launched starting from August 31 until September 14, and posted a promo on his official Facebook account.

The Bright Star maneuvers are the largest joint exercise in the Middle East, which sees over 8,000 soldiers from 34 countries take part in the training.

It aims to strengthen military cooperation and build capabilities to confront common threats and risks.

The head of the US Central Command, General Michael Corella on July 29 visited the Rafah border crossing in North Sinai during a visit to Egypt, where he discussed preparations for military maneuvers on the border between Egypt and Gaza.

“General Corella expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Osama Askar, for Egypt’s continued leadership role on regional security issues and its efforts during the recent evacuations of non-combatants from Sudan,” a statement from Centcom said.
