Hundreds of veterinarians stormed the Ministry of Agriculture in Cairo Tuesday and staged a sit-in, demanding the appointment of a veterinarian as deputy minister of agriculture.
The protesters said they would meet with the minister to resolve disputes between the ministry and the Association of Veterinarians, which is in charge of coping with issues such as bird flu and foot and mouth disease among cattle.
Association spokesperson Hazem Darwish said the minister intends to appoint a deputy that is not involved in an association.
