The international magazine Variety chose the Egyptian series ‘Finding Ola’ in its list of the best 2022 streaming series.
The series came third in the magazine’s list of the best dramas this year, making it the only Arab and Egyptian work on the list.
In a press release, Tunisian actress Hend Sabry, the series’ heroine and executive producer, expressed her happiness in the choice.
She added that the presence of Arab and Egyptian work in the list is evidence of the great development that has occurred in this industry, which complements the efforts of pioneers and great makers of Arab drama.
The series is produced by the Netflix platform, and it consists of six episodes, following the story of Ola Abdel Sabour and her life after divorce.
Finding Ola is written by Maha al-Wazir and Ghada Abdel-Aal, directed by Hadi Aal-Bagouri, starring Hend Sabry, Sawsan Badr, Hani Adel, Mahmoud al-Laithi and Nada Musa.
The character Ola Abdel Sabour previously appeared in Ayza Atgawez (I Want to Get Married) which was shown in 2010, and ended with Ola’s marriage to the last groom, who embodied his character, Hani Adel.
The events of “Finding Ola” begin with the husband announcing his desire to divorce his wife, so that Ola will embark on a new life.
Last March, Netflix announced preparations for second season.
Sabry published a video clip Instagram confirming the continuation, saying, “As Ola taught us that the end of one story is the beginning of another, the second season comes to obtain a new opportunity.
