US senior officials, Sisi discuss Palestinian-Israeli negotiations

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received on Thursday US White House Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner. They discussed bilateral relations and means of pushing forward Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.

General Intelligence head Abbas Kamel, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and political adviser to the Senior Policy Advisor to US Secretary of State Brian H. Hook attended the meeting.

Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said Sisi spoke of the strong and solid strategic relations between Egypt and the US, stressing Egypt’s keenness to continue to improve relations in all fields and to continue coordination and consultation with the US administration on means to consolidate peace and stability in the MENA region amid the ongoing crises.

Egypt supports all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause and pushes forward all efforts to revive the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides in accordance to international guidelines and the two-state solution with East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital, Sisi said.

Kushner conveyed Donald Trump’s greetings to Sisi, stressing the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries and his country’s keenness to develop them at various levels.

He praised the important role of and great efforts exerted by Egypt to promote the foundations of stability and peace in the region and to combat terrorism.

He also praised Egypt’s tangible success in implementing its economic reform program despite the regional challenges.

Kushner reviewed the US efforts with the various parties in the region to push forward negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, stressing the great importance that his country attaches to consultation with Egypt in this regard based on its long experience with the subject.
