The Egyptian Embassy in Washington said on Sunday that US authorities arrested three suspected perpetrators of the murder of Egyptian Andrew Samir who was shot to death on January 28. According to a statement released by the embassy, Egyptian consul Nader Saad has had direct communication with relatives of the killed Egyptian, a pharmacist, to get more details on the incident. He has also been in contact with US authorities to follow up on the ongoing investigation into the murder. Saad urged US authorities to rapidly release the body of the Egyptian for the sake of transferring it to Egypt so his family could bury it. The body is scheduled to reach Egypt on Wednesday. The embassy statement noted that the three suspects have confessed that they carried out the murder, saying their purpose was to rob him. According to various media reports, Samir was found injured due to shooting in front of his residence in the US state of Maryland on January 28 and died on the way to the hospital.
