US and Israeli officials attend spy suspect interviews

Officials from the US and Israeli Embassies attended the official interviews with suspected Israeli spy Ilian Grapel on Tuesday, and were allowed to talk alone with him.

Grapel told investigators that he served in the Israeli army for two years and three months, but did not work for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

When presented with the information he sent via email, he said that he had wanted to tell his family that he was alright, and that such information was available on the internet and was being broadcast on Egyptian and Arab television channels.

Investigations thus far have revealed that Grapel visited tourist sites in Luxor, as well as the Jewish community headquarters in Alexandria.
