Envoys from the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo visited alleged Israeli spy Ilan Grapel in prison on Tuesday, and told him that procedures for his release have been completed, and that he will leave Egypt in a week’s time, say security sources.
However, a judicial source said that prosecutors have not been briefed on any swap deal with Egyptian prisoners in Israel, and that Grapel is due to be referred to the Supreme State Security Court.
Grapel is charged with endangering Egyptian national interests and inciting the destruction of state property.
