Three police officers were killed and 24 others were injured Monday when a roadside bomb rocked a bus in Beheira, northwestern Egypt.
A source at the Interior Minister has told state agency MENA that though two police officers were initially killed in the blast, a third died of wounds after medics attempted to rescue him.
A security source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that a bomb planted on the road crossing through the town of Rashid went off while the bus was passing.
Egypt has seen recurrent fatal attacks against army and police forces since the ouster of the now-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood's rule in 2013.
