
The Supreme Administrative Court’s rulings on appeals in the first phase of the parliamentary elections, held in 14 governorates, revealed the cancellation of results in 30 constituencies.
This is in addition to the 19 constituencies previously announced by the National Elections Authority, bringing the total number of canceled constituencies in the first phase to 49.
The number of governorates where constituencies were canceled rose to 10, with the addition of three new governorates—Luxor, Minya, and Aswan—to the seven previously announced by the Authority: Giza, Fayoum, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Alexandria, and Beheira.
This represents 71 percent of the total governorates in the first phase.
The first phase of the elections was held in 14 governorates: Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, New Valley, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, and Marsa Matrouh.
Following President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s comments on the irregularities that occurred during the first phase, the National Elections Authority announced the cancellation of the results in 19 constituencies across seven governorates.
The total number of individual candidates in both phases reached 2,597, with 1,281 in the first phase and 1,316 in the second.
There were 10,893 polling stations nationwide – 5,606 for the first phase and 5,287 for the second – overseen by 9,600 judges from the Administrative Prosecution and the State Council.
