Up to 63 aid trucks enter Gaza amidst ongoing conflict

Sixty-three trucks carrying humanitarian aid entered the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, from the subsidiary gate of the Rafah land port in North Sinai, the Supreme Council for Media reported.

The aid reached Gaza via the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in the southeastern part of the Strip, and included three trucks loaded with fuel.

An official source at the Rafah land port in North Sinai stated that the trucks carried food aid, including flour, baby formula, oil, sugar, cheese, canned meals, bread, and legumes, in addition to medical supplies and fuel.

The aid trucks that entered the Gaza Strip came from the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Egyptian National Alliance, the states of Qatar and the UAE, and the UN, as part of the 24th aid convoy.

Israel has kept the crossings into the Gaza Strip closed since March 2, following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza and the failure to reach an agreement to stabilize it.

The truce was breached by fierce Israeli aerial bombardment on March 18, and occupation forces have since re-entered various areas of the Gaza Strip from which they had previously withdrawn.

Israeli authorities also prevented the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and supplies for displaced people who lost their homes due to the war on Gaza.

They have also refused to allow in heavy equipment needed for debris removal and reconstruction.

The entry of aid into Gaza resumed last May according to a mechanism implemented by the occupation authorities and an American security company, despite the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) rejecting it for violating established international procedures.

Israel announced a “temporary truce” of ten hours daily, effective Sunday, and suspended military operations in certain areas of the Gaza Strip to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered.

Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the US continue to make efforts towards reach a ceasefire and a hostage exchange agreement in Gaza.
