Up to 14 bodies recovered following collapse of building in Upper Egypt

Assiut Governor Essam Saad announced on Tuesday that efforts to clean up the rubble of a collapsed four-story building in Assiut city, Upper Egypt have concluded with 14 bodies recovered and six people rescued.

According to the governor, rescue efforts had gone on tirelessly for 24 hours a day.

Ten ambulances, five civil protection vehicles, and ground rescue vehicles were dispatched alongside lorries and Rapid Rescue Unit vehicles to quickly remove the rubble and recover any victims of the collapsed property.

Saad also formed an engineering committee to inspect the collapsed house and all properties in the area in order to prepare a report on the cause behind the disaster.
