An unidentified gunmen robbed Saqr Qoraish Post Office in Maadi on Sunday, according to Al-Basateen Police Station.
Inventory is still ongoing to determine the exact amount stolen.
The perpetrators escaped on two motorcycles, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported, and failed to steal all the money in the office after a policeman who resides near the office intervened.
Security forces attended to the scene following the incident and the public prosecutor was notified for investigations.
