Farhan Haq , Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary General of the United Nations, called for the release of toppled President Mohamed Morsy and political detainees in Egypt.
Haq added in a press conference in New York City: “We hope that this special stage in Egypt ends within the framework of democracy.”
For the Syrian crisis, Haq said the UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi will meet on Tuesday with Mikhail Bogdanov , Deputy Russian Foreign Minister, and Wendy Sherman, senior US State Department official, to talk about Geneva 2 conference.
