Two suspects were killed on Wednesday morning after an exchange of fire with police during a crackdown on their apartment in Hada'eq al-Maadi neighborhood in Cairo, according to a security source.
Heavy weapons and explosive materials were found in the apartment, the source added.
An RPG, an explosive belt, five F1 grenades, an automatic rifle, a pistol and other ammunition were found in the apartment, according to the same source.
Two police officers were injured during the exchange of fire and were transferred to the hospital, the source added.
The police received a tip about the existence of a terrorist cell in an apartment in Hada'eq al-Maadi.
Security forces imposed a security cordon around the area of the crackdown on Wednesday morning before exchanging fire with the suspects.
